Promoting Merlin

I am the creator of a crime fiction series featuring World War Two London detective Frank Merlin. I have a new book in the series, Death Of An Officer, coming out later this month. Book promotion is, of course, nothing new. Think of Charles Dickens and his British and American Reading Tours back in the 1850s. However, there are many more ways to get your book in the public eye now. In a moment I'll run through the main methods I've been using, but first a few words about the book itself.

Death Of An Officer is the sixth in the DCI Frank Merlin series. The stories began with The Embassy Murders in January 1940, and have now reached May 1943. When the new book opens, the Allies have just achieved victory over Rommel's Afrika Korps in North Africa. This is the first chink of light in what has been a very dark three and a half years for the British people, but things remain bleak in Frank Merlin's London where many areas are in ruins from German bombing. The detective is confronted by two perplexing cases: a respected doctor is found brutally murdered in his South Kensington flat and the battered body of a young man is found on a bomb site in the East End. He and his team investigate.
