Curtis Brown Creative and the Curtis Brown Literary and Talent Agency have launched a novel-writing competition with ITV's "This Morning".
The competition, launching on "This Morning" on 4th November, is open to unrepresented and unpublished authors, who will be asked to send in the first 30,000 words and a one-page synopsis from a novel or novel-in-progress.
Author Marian Keyes, actress and TV Book Club panellist Caroline Quentin, and Jonny Geller, joint c.e.o. of Curtis Brown, will judge the entries
The winner, announced live on This Morning, will get representation from a Curtis Brown agent and a free place on one of Curtis Brown Creative's six-month novel-writing courses.
Two runners-up will be offered meetings with a Curtis Brown agent.
Geller said: "This country boasts some of the finest storytellers in the world and with the help of "This Morning", the judges, our creative-writing school and the agents at Curtis Brown, we hope to discover the next generation of British literary talent."
Keyes said: "I remember well the fear and trepidation of sending my first novel to an agent and publisher. I can't wait to read the novels that come in to the competition - I hope it'll be like delving in a treasure chest."
Entrants must be 18 or over, living in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, and writing a novel in English. The novel should be unpublished and the novelist unrepresented. It can be in any genre but should be aimed at adults rather than children.
The closing date for the competition is 14th November, and the winner and runners-up are expected to be announced on air on 27th November.
