The First Chapter Literary Prize

New prize from just-launched publisher Lighthouse Publishing

From 6 September 2010, aspiring literary novelists from all over the world may enter first chapters into this web-based competition for the chance to win mentoring over a year from three of the British publishing industry’s big names: author Tibor Fischer, literary agent Simon Trewin of United AgentsClick for United Agents Agents References listing, and publisher (and author) Alessandro Gallenzi of Alma Books.

Trewin said: “Lightship’s First Chapter is a stroke of genius. It will award the winner a unique prize - to be mentored over a year by an author, an agent and a publisher. No other prize in the world offers something so comprehensive – it is like winning the only place on a creative writing school staffed entirely by professionals.”  After a year-long mentoring process, if the winner’s finished novel is as fantastic as their winning first chapter, Trewin will represent them and Alma Books will publish their work. “First Chapter will help new literary authors achieve recognition in a very competitive market,” explains Gallenzi.
