The 2010 Diagram Prize for the Oddest Title of the Year - winner announced

The winner of the 2010 Diagram Prize has now been announced and it is:

Managing a Dental Practice the Genghis Khan Way
Michael R Young (Radcliffe)

A book advising dentists to manage their practices according to the leadership techniques of a legendary Mongolian warlord has snatched the Prize this year.

My favourite competition of the year is run by columnist Horace Bent in the Bookseller (the UK book trade weekly) with input from dedicated odd title hunters from all over the world. The prize, set up in association with the Diagram Group, has been running since 1978 and is a joyous celebration of the barmy side of publishing.

Here's the shortlist for the 2010 Prize:

8th International Friction Stir Welding Symposium Proceedings
Various authors (TWI)
The Generosity of the Dead
Graciela Nowenstein (Ashgate)
The Italian's One-night Love Child
Cathy Williams (Mills & Boon)
Managing a Dental Practice the Genghis Khan Way
Michael R Young (Radcliffe)
Myth of the Social Volcano
Martin King Whyte (Stanford University Press)
